Australia's team has been hit by Covid-19 ahead of the second Test against the West Indies, with allrounder Cameron Green and coach Andrew McDonald the latest to come down with the virus on Wednesday. Earlier reports did not mention in detail under what circumstances Maxwell was taken to the hospital but a Sydney Morning Herald report said that he lost consciousness and woke up on the way. Maxwell was watching a concert when the incident took place. "...after the show, during which Maxwell was photographed with numerous members of the crowd, he and his friends retired to the backstage area where they drank and sang songs with 'Six and Out' (band) and other friends invited into the room," the report said, citing unnamed multiple sources.

Australia batter Usman Khawaja is in contention to face West Indies in the second Test of the series at Gabba on Thursday after passing his concussion protocols, according to ESPNcricinfo. Khawaja sustained a blow on the helmet in the first Test in Adelaide. In the second innings, Australia were asked to chase down 26 to emerge victorious in the series opener.
