Paris Paralympics: Nihal Singh, Rudransh Khandelwal Miss Out On Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 Final

India's Nihal Singh and Rudransh Khandelwal failed to make it to the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 final after finishing 19th and 22nd, respectively, in the qualifications on Wednesday. Nihal finished with a total score of 522 while Rudransh accumulated 517 points in the 60-shot qualification round. Earlier, Nihal failed to make the final of the Mixed 25m Pistol (SH1) after finishing 10th in the qualification. Rudransh and Nihal both had settled for silver and bronze, respectively, in the Mixed 50m Pistol (SH1) at the Para-Shooting World Cup in March this year.

Indian para-athlete Amisha missed out on a medal in the final of the F46 Shot Put at the ongoing Paris Paralympics, as she finished at number 14th in the medal match on Wednesday. Amisha finished at number 14th with the personal best of 9.25 m, but it was not enough to land her a position in the podium. Her first attempt turned out to be her best throw. Dominating the podium were Noelle Malkamaki of USA, who set a new world record with a throw of 14.06 m.

India's Bhagyashri Jadhav finished fifth in the women's shot put (F34) at the Paralympics on Tuesday. Jadhav, making her second appearance at the Paralympics, produced a throw of 7.28m but it was not enough for a podium finish. China's Lijuan Zou won the gold with a season best of 9.14m while Poland's Lucyna Kornobys secured the silver with an effort of 8.33m. The 39-year-old Indian hails from Nanded district in Maharashtra. She slipped into depression after losing the use of her legs due to an accident in 2006.

Indian para-shuttler Suhas Yathiraj is an emotional mess after his second successive Paralympic silver. India's ace shooter Avani Lekhara entered the final of the women's 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 competition after finishing the qualification in seventh place at the ongoing Paralympics on Tuesday. The other Indian shooter in the field, Mona Agarwal, however, could not clear the qualification hurdle and ended in the 13th position. Avani shot a total of 1159 across the three stages of kneeling, prone and standing while Mona aggregated 1147. The top eight shooters from the qualification progress to the finals.
