Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale shone at 2024 Paris Olympics with a historic bronze medal in the Men's 50m rifle three positions event on Thursday. Spending much of the early parts of the final in the fifth or sixth position, Swapnil made a dash for the top to clinch the bronze medal. This became India's third shooting medal, as well as the third medal overall, in Paris 2024. "Jo India ke liye kar sakte hain, hamne sab kuch kiya (Whatever I could have done for India, I did)," Swapnil told NDTV in an exclusive interview on Thursday.
National pistol shooting coach Samaresh Jung, who guided Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh to bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, returned home to the disheartening news that his house and locality are scheduled for demolition in two days. Jung, an Olympian, was given the notice along with other residents of the Khyber Pass locality in the Civil Lines area of the national capital. The notice was issued by the Land and Development Office (LNDO) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which claimed that the land on which the Khyber Pass colony is located belongs to the Ministry of Defence and is therefore illegal.

Kusale became the first Indian shooter to win a medal in the men's 50m rifle 3P event. The shooter clinched the bronze medal for India in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men's Final after finishing in third place with an aggregate of 451.4. He secured India's third overall medal in shooting. "I am very happy he got an Olympic medal today. His victory is a matter of great joy for us. This is the result of the hard work he did and I am very happy for him," Vishwajeet Shinde told ANI.
