Tottenham Hotspur boosted their Premier League top-four hopes with a 2-0 victory over rivals Chelsea on Sunday to pile more pressure on Blues manager Graham Potter.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter acknowledged he cannot rely on the support of the club's board for much longer after a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday heaped more pressure on him. Goals from Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane consolidated Spurs' place in the Premier League top four as they opened up a four-point lead over fifth-placed Newcastle, although the Magpies have two games in hand.
Chelsea’s winless run extended to six games as Tottenham heaped yet more misery on Graham Potter with a 2-0 win in north London.
Graham Potter has admitted he “can’t rely on support forever” amid speculation about his future following Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham. Chelsea have failed to win their last eight away games in the Premier League for the first time since 2001 and have won just one of their last 11 matches in all competitions. The Blues are currently 10th in the table.
It was hard not to feel for Graham Potter. Chelsea’s head coach has dealt with death threats and abuse. By the end of this defeat he was on the receiving end of mockery from Tottenham’s crowing fans, who told Potter that his sacking was on the way after Harry Kane had sealed the points for Antonio Conte’s side.
