Special being back where it changed for me: Neeraj Chopra returns to National Stadium at 'Thank You Tokyo'

As per the Olympics.com, the Olympic champion was in the Japanese capital on Sunday to attend the event, which was organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japanese Olympic Committee to commemorate the successful hosting of the global sporting event last year. The people of Japan were also appreciated for making the event a huge success despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost 18,000 people turned out to watch the event, which involved a series of sports initiations and demonstrations from top athletes. The massive crowd, which had not turned up to the stadium due to the pandemic, now got to see the sight of Neeraj storming down the runway and hurling a javelin once again, just like he did during his Olympics triumph. "Had a great time at the #Tokyo2020 Commemoration Ceremony today, and was a special feeling being back at the stadium where it all changed for me. Thank you to @iocmedia, @gorin and @Tokyo2020 for the invite! #ThankYouTokyo #arigatouDong Jing ," tweeted Neeraj.

Mirabai Chanu braves wrist injury, lack of training to lift National Games gold

The likes of Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, four-time Worlds medallist Bajrang Punia, three-time CWG champion Vinesh Phogat or All England Open finalist Lakshya Sen might be missing from action at the National Games Gujarat to give their injured and tired bodies much-needed rest. That wasn’t the case with Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Mirabai, who risked aggravating her left wrist injury sustained a week ago during one of her training sessions in NIS Patiala to clinch her first-ever National Games gold in the women’s 49kg category at the Mahatma Mandir Exhibition Centre on Friday.

Neeraj Chopra - 'Back stress fractures not career-threatening' - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - Australia - India

'Back stress fractures not career-threatening'

World Cup in Australia next month, but stress fractures cannot derail the star bowler's sparkling career, assures Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is on the ICC medical advisory committee. "Stress fractures of the back are not career-threatening or career-ending. In most instances, once you rest and rehabilitate, you can return to complete normalcy. Although stress reactions heal quickly, stress fractures take a longer time and the recovery is frustratingly slow, because there's not too much that you can do except for unloading the area and subsequently gradually reintroducing loads once healing is complete. Stress fractures are unlike traumatic fractures and rest is a critical aspect of the treatment in these injuries. Once you do that, it recovers," Pardiwala explained to TOI.
