Pat Cummins returns for Australia's ICC Champions Trophy campaign in Pakistan next month after skipping their Sri Lanka Test tour, with injured paceman Josh Hazlewood also in the squad announced Monday. Australian captain Cummins opted out of the Sri Lanka series starting later this month for the birth of his second child. He is also reportedly carrying a knee injury. Hazlewood was included in the two-time tournament winners' preliminary 15-man line-up after calf and side strains restricted him to just two Tests against India over the summer.
The IPL 2025 mega auction saw 182 players sold for a whopping combined fee of Rs 639.15 crore. Rishabh Pant shattered the record of the most expensive purchase, going to Lucknow Super Giants, while Shreyas Iyer was not far behind, moving to Punjab Kings. PBKS spent a fortune of Rs 18 crore each on Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, but undoubtedly their headline signing was that of Indian batter Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 cr, making him the second-most expensive player in IPL history. Iyer thus became the most expensive buy ever in the history of the IPL auction. PBKS were in intense tussle with Delhi Capitals for the signature of the batter. KKR, who had released Iyer before the auction, had also entered the bidding war to buy back the player. PBKS also bought Yuzvendra Chahal for 18 crore, making him the most expensive Indian spinner to be sold in the history of IPL players auction. Earlier, PBKS exercised the Right To Match (RTM) card to buy back pacer Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crore.
