Australia's Glenn Maxwell Aggravates Injury Month Before World Cup 2023

Australia's star allrounder Glenn Maxwell is in a race against time as he continues to battle with a fresh injury with the ICC ODI World Cup just a month away. Maxwell ended up hurting his ankle during a training session in Durban while training for Australia's T20I series against South Africa on Wednesday and he will now fly home to be alongside his wife as they await the birth of their first child according to the ICC. Maxwell is expected to recover from his ankle injury in due time, but, national selector Tony Dodemaide has made it clear that no risks would be taken with the 34-year-old given his injury history that includes the freak leg injury he picked up at a friend's party late last year.

Devdutt Padikkal, Yashasvi Jaiswal Script Rajasthan Royals' Four-Wicket Win, Keep Slim Playoff Hopes Alive

Devdutt Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal hit sublime fifties as Rajasthan Royals kept their slim play-off hopes alive with a four-wicket win over Punjab Kings in their final IPL league match here on Friday. Sent into bat, PBKS were reeling at 50 for four but Sam Curran (49 not out) and Jitesh Sharma (44 off 28 balls) revived the innings while M Shahrukh Khan (41 not out off) provided the late surge to power the side to 187 for 5. A target of 188 was never going to be easy and RR needed to complete the chase in 18.3 overs to momentarily get ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore's net runrate but they couldn't.

"Trickier" Than Lasith Malinga: PBKS Star's Huge Praise For CSK Youngster

Zimbabwe all-rounder and Punjab Kings batter Sikandar Raza lauded Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana and said the young pacer is much more trickier to read than Sri Lanka great Lasith Malinga. Sikandar said that Pathirana, who is playing in the IPL 2023 for Chennai Super Kings, is more trickier bowler than Malinga as his bowling action comes lower. "Pathirana is a quality talent. I remember that [Lasith] Malinga was hard enough to face but Pathirana is just a bit trickier. His arm comes lower. Malinga was side on, I remember. On that wicket, with those cutters and his 145kph pace, you just didn't know what's coming. Alhamdulillah, to be able to score those runs! I was just trying to find a boundary so I was lucky to get those three runs. I hit it into a gap. I guess when it's your day, luck favours you in weird ways," the Zimbabwe player said.

Punjab Kings Eye Big Win To Keep Play-Off Hopes Alive vs Delhi Capitals

Punjab Kings will be eager to register a big win to keep their IPL play-off hopes alive against wooden spooners Delhi Capitals, who will play for pride when the two teams face off in Dharamsala on Wednesday. It has been a roller-coaster ride for PBKS, with six losses and as many wins. They are placed at eighth spot with 12 points and are still in contention to make the qualifiers. However, they need to improve their net run rate (NRR), which stands at -0.268. A 31-run win against the Capitals last week boosted their NRR and morale and the Shikhar Dhawan-led side will hope for an encore and then hope that other results go their way.

DC vs PBKS, IPL 2023: Prabhsimran Singh, Harpreet Brar Fashion Punjab Kings' 31-Run Win To Knock Out Delhi Capitals

Prabhsimran Singh's magnificent maiden IPL hundred was well complemented by Harpreet Brar's four wicket haul as Punjab Kings on Saturday kept their slim play-off hopes alive with a comprehensive 31-run win over Delhi Capitals, who were knocked out of contention in the process. If Prabhsimran showed tremendous resolve during his 65-ball 103 to single-handedly power PBKS to 167 for 7, Brar (4/30) and Rahul Chahar (2/16) then spun a web to strangle Delhi's chase as the home side managed just 135 for 8, despite a sizzling 27-ball 54 by skipper David Warner. The win took Punjab to 12 points from 12 games, just outside the top four but they will need to win the next two matches as well to keep hopes of a playoff, while it was the end of the road for Delhi.

"Not Going To Win...": David Warner Blasts DC Batters After Defeat Against PBKS

Delhi Capitals captain David Warner rued his side's poor batting approach as they were knocked out of IPL play-offs contention after suffering a 31-run loss to Punjab Kings here on Saturday. Chasing 168 on a slow-turner, the Australia left-handed batter gave DC a perfect start as his side reached 69 for no loss at the end of powerplay, but they crashed to 88 for 6 in 10.1 overs and were ultimately restricted to 136 for 8. "The way we started and then losing six for 30, you are not going to win many games," Warner said at the post-match presentation.

On Poor Form Of Sam Curran, IPL's Most-Expensive Player, PBKS Coach's Take

Sam Curran might have been bogged down by the pressure of his price tag in this IPL, but Punjab Kings bowling coach Charl Langeveldt backed the Englishman, terming him a "winner". Andre Russell roared back to form by smashing Curran for three sixes off four balls to turn the match in favour of KKR who sealed a thrilling five-wicket win to keep their playoff hopes alive in the IPL here on Monday. "He's a winner. You want to back him. He's our senior bowler as well, you can have days like this," the South African said at the post-match media interaction.
