The Indian cricket team have been enjoying a brilliant start to their Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign but the Rohit Sharma-led side was dealt a massive blow as all-rounder Hardik Pandya limped off the field after suffering a leg injury during the match against Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday. During the 9th over of the Bangladesh innings, Pandya tried to stop a shot from Litton Das with his right leg but ended up slipping in the process. He landed awkwardly on his left leg and the physio had to rush to the field as Pandya looked in pain. While it looked like Pandya will be able to continue, he was not able to run properly and the team management decided to take him off the attack and hand the ball to Virat Kohli.
New Zealand gave themselves a perfect boost ahead of the World Cup by whitewashing Bangladesh in the three-match series 2-0, with a seven wickets win in the final one-day international in Dhaka on Tuesday. Will Young and Adam Milne starred with bat and ball respectively, with Young hitting 70 off 80 balls to guide New Zealand to 175-3. Milne's 4-34 restricted the hosts to 171 in 34.3 overs at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Stand-in skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto scored highest with 76 runs for Bangladesh, but was unable to give the hosts a competitive score with a lack of support from the other end after he opted to bat first.
Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim got dismissed in a bizarre manner that left the social media stunned during the third one-day international against New Zealand at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday. During the 16th over of the Bangladesh innings, Mushfiqur chopped a delivery from Lockie Ferguson towards his stumps and in desperation to stop himself from getting dismissed, he decided to kick the ball away. However, before he could complete the save, the ball crashed into the stumps and he ended up disturbing them even more with his boots. There was slight confusion regarding the nature of the dismissal but it was given bowled by the umpires.
