"Pakistan Team Was Too Soft...": Ex-India Star's Damning Cricket World Cup 2023 Verdict

Pakistan cricket team had a disappointing run in the Cricket World Cup 2023 and the Babar Azam-led side failed to qualify for the semifinals after losing five out of their nine group stage matches. A massive reason behind the capitulation was the lack of form shown by the Pakistan pacers and the bowling department as a whole. Former Indian cricket team star Mohammed Kaif took to social media and said that the Pakistan side was "too soft" and their pacers were "too nice" in this World Cup.

Pakistan Bowling Coach Morne Morkel Quits After Disastrous World Cup Campaign

After Pakistan's disastrous campaign in the ICC World Cup 2023 ended with a defeat against England, Morne Morkel has stepped down as the bowling coach of the Men in Green's team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday. The former South Africa fast bowler joined the Pakistan team on a six-month contract in June this year. Morkel's first assignment with the men's team was their tour to Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series. The Pakistan cricket body will announce his replacement in due course.

"Need To Create Consistency": Pakistan Bowling Coach Morne Morkel After Loss vs Australia

At the moment, Pakistan's World Cup campaign is stuck against a huge boulder primarily because of their bowlers' inability to fire as a unit, the latest setback being a 62-run defeat against Australia in Bengaluru. It was their second successive defeat in the tournament after a seven-wicket battering by India. Shaheen Shah Afridi looked to have regained his touch with a five-wicket haul, but Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali were taken apart by David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Alarmingly, the Pakistan bowlers did not look to have a Plan B when riding on a rough sea, and their bowling coach Morne Morkel admitted to his side not building a bowling partnership.

Pakistan Focus On Shaheen Afridi Revival At Nets; Usama Mir May Replace Shadab Khan vs Australia

Pakistan players trooped into the Chinnaswamy Stadium on a clement Wednesday afternoon, looking every inch unhurried and talking boisterously to each other, except one. Shaheen Shah Afridi was all business and walked to the centre straightaway in the company of bowling coach Morne Morkel. Pakistan camp might have heaved a sigh of relief to see that as the strapping left-arm pacer did not show any signs of a draining fever that had gripped the team upon its arrival in the City, while engaging himself fully in the ensuing net session.

"Did Not See That Coming": Pakistan Cricket Team Stunned By Welcome In India Ahead Of Cricket World Cup 2023

The Pakistan cricket team arrived in India after seven years ahead of Cricket World Cup 2023 and the welcome was overwhelming in Hyderabad. People flocked to the airport in order to catch a glimpse of the Pakistan cricketers and several of them took to social media to share their feelings about the heartwarming welcome. India and Pakistan stopped playing bilateral series almost a decade ago and as a result, their matches in international or continental tournaments are a treat for cricket fans. Cricket fans were once again present as the cricketers started practice before their first Cricket World Cup warm-up game.

Meet Nishanth Saranu - 6 Feet 9 Inches Tall Indian Net Bowler Who Impressed Pakistan Stars

Hyderabad U-19 pacer Nishanth Saranu, who stands at six feet nine inches, attracted a lot of attention in Pakistan's opening net session ahead of the World Cup on Thursday. Nishanth, who is in his second year of U-19 cricket, was among the host of net bowlers at Pakistan's team disposal after it turned up for training 12 hours after a high-profile arrival in the city. Pakistan will face New Zealand in a World Cup warm-up fixture here on Friday. After Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi were done with their spells, Pakistan support staff including bowling coach Morne Morkel chose Nishanth from a clutch of net bowlers who were anxiously waiting for their turn. Bowling in the range of 140-150 kmph comes naturally to Pakistani bowlers including Rauf and Shaheen, therefore the young Hyderabad pacer was asked to ramp up his pace significantly.

PCB Reviews Asia Cup 2023 Performance Ahead Of Cricket World Cup 2023 Squad Announcement

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday held a review meeting of their woeful Asia Cup show in the wake of their World Cup squad announcement. All teams must finalise their 15-player squads for the cricket showpiece before the September 28 deadline, with any replacements after this date requiring approval from the ICC. "The philosophy behind this review was to create an atmosphere of open discussion and develop consensus," PCB chairman of the management committee Zaka Ashraf said in a statement. "The idea is to have everyone on board and debate about performances, identifying the problems and their solutions.” The review meeting was also attended by head coach Mickey Arthur, captain Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan and former skippers Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez.
