At a meeting held on Tuesday evening (1 March), the FIA decided that Haas F1 driver Nikita Mazepin could race in the upcoming Formula One season. However, he will have to participate under a different flag, according to the sporting body. The FIA says Russian drivers can continue to race in international competitions in spite of their country's invasion of Ukraine. In a statement released on Tuesday night, the FIA revealed that president Mohammed ben Sulayem had chaired an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) earlier in the day which had as its aim to «address matters relating to the ongoing situation in Ukraine».
Paris - Motorsport's governing body FIA on Tuesday condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine but said Russian and Belarusian drivers could still take part in its competitions in a neutral capacity.
