Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Wednesday announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, which will be played from August 27 to September 11 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). From the 16 players who are part of the Afghanistan Squad for the ongoing Ireland T20I Series, Samiullah Shinwari has replaced Sharafuddin Ashraf, who is now part of the reserve players for the event, along with Qais Ahmad and Nijat Masoud. In addition, the left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad, who was replaced by Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the Ireland series, has also found his way to the side.

Afghanistan on Tuesday announced its squads for the three one-day internationals and as many Twenty20 clashes on their tour of Zimbabwe next month. The three T20Is will count towards the ICC T20I rankings, whereas the three ODI matches will be part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Hazratullah Zazai struck an unbeaten half-century to help Afghanistan thrash Bangladesh by eight wickets in the second Twenty20 international with the two-match series ending all square at 1-1 in Dhaka on Saturday. Zazai hit 59 off 45 balls and Usman Ghani scored 47, guiding Afghanistan to 121-2 in 17.4 overs after Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai claimed three wickets each to restrict Bangladesh to 115-9. A minute's silence was observed in memory of late Australian greats Shane Warne and Rodney Marsh before the start of the match.
