Christine Scheyer leads the way in the women’s combined after posting the fastest time in the downhill at the Winter Olympics, but favourite Mikaela Shiffrin and the remarkable Ester Ledecka remain in contention going into the slalom. Shiffrin finished fifth in the downhill segment of the combined event at the Yanqing National Alpine Ski Centre, 0.56 seconds behind Scheyer.
YANQING, China : Austria's Christine Scheyer was in pole position after the downhill leg of the women's combined on Thursday but American favourite Mikaela Shiffrin was within striking distance as she searches for her first medal of the Beijing Games.
Mikaela Shiffrin is competing in the women's Alpine combined event at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 over the next few hours.
