Looking to bounce back from her DNFs in the two individual events last week, Shiffrin — who finished the super-G in ninth and the downhill in 18th — was aiming to go past the sixth gate in the slalom segment of the combined event after placing fifth in the downhill on Sofia Goggia’s skis.

Michelle Gisin of Switzerland found the best all-around form on the day in the women’s Alpine skiing combined event, overcoming a slow downhill finish to make up time in the slalom portion and claim her second-straight Olympic gold medal in the event.
Mikaela Shiffrin recorded her third DNF of the Winter Olympics as Michelle Gisin defended her combined crown in emphatic style. The American was fifth after the downhill but was left shell-shocked in the slalom after seeing another event slip away before the finish line at Beijing 2022.
