IPL 2022: 'Cannot look too far ahead' after string of losses, concedes CSK batting coach Michael Hussey

Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey has conceded that the team cannot look "too far ahead", given that the defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions have lost six of the nine games this season and are currently ninth on the points table, just above Mumbai Indians. The four-time IPL champions' campaign has floundered, chiefly because of the inconsistent batting at the top of the order, and they would be looking to put it across Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MCA stadium here on Wednesday when the teams clash for the second time this season. Hussey, who is a long-timer with CSK -- previously as a player and now as batting coach, would be eyeing a second win against RCB after winning the opening encounter against them in the 'Southern Derby' by 23 runs last month. CSK had then put 216 on the board.

IPL 2022: Everyone at Chennai Super Kings backing Ravindra Jadeja despite a string of losses, says Michael Hussey

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey has indicated that every member of the four-time IPL champions was behind new captain Ravindra Jadeja despite the string of early losses, adding that the team was looking at a couple of wins, which would help the all-rounder "feel more relaxed as captain". The IPL 2021 champions have lost all their four matches in the current edition of the tournament and are placed last on the points table, with critics attributing the poor run to a change in captaincy. Hussey conceded that making Jadeja skipper was a huge change and everyone was supporting him while he tries to emerge as a strong leader of the side.

IPL 2022: CSK's Michael Hussey reveals why he switched from being a right-hander to a left-handed batter

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey has revealed that he was so impressed with the legendary Allan Border's batting that he switched to becoming a left-hander from being a natural right-hander during his formative days. Hussey, who played 79 Tests and scored more than 6,200 runs at a healthy average of 51.52, has had a long association with CSK, first as a player and then as batting coach. He reversed the fortunes of the Chennai franchise in 2010, which eventually went on to win the title that year.
