Cricket South Africa on Monday named the Proteas' squads for the all-format inbound tour against India from 10 December - 7 January.
The Proteas will be without Marco Jansen for the remainder of the T20I series against Australia in Durban.
Although the ODI World Cup is only about a month away, cricketing giants Australia and South Africa engage in a T20I contest, with the first match of the series taking place on Wednesday. Mitchell Marsh will be leading the Australian team for the first time since Aaron Finch's retirement while Aiden Markram will lead his South African troops in Durban. The series offers both teams an opportunity to test some young guns, in a bid to prepare the best team possible for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Dewald Brevis will take a step onto cricket's big stage during Australia's white-ball tour of South Africa, which starts with the first of three Twenty20 internationals at Kingsmead on Wednesday.
Proteas white-ball coach Rob Walter has somewhat guardedly given his implicit approval to Cricket South Africa's (CSA) relaxed fitness criteria ahead of the new season, which is now focused on a catching-flies-with-honey approach than rigid enforcement.
Cricket South Africa on Monday named 18 players for a five-match one-day international series against Australia next month, the team's last outings before the Cricket World Cup in India. But not all the players will be travelling to India for the tournament in October and November. A 15-man World Cup squad will be named on September 5, two days before the first one-day international. Some of the squad will be hoping to impress in three Twenty20 internationals before the one-day series. They include Dewald Brevis, 20, who is set to make his international debut during the T20 series.
CAPE TOWN : South Africa have included precocious batting talent Dewald Brevis in their One-Day and Twenty20 International squads for their eight-match limited-overs home series against Australia starting later this month.
Batting sensation Dewald Brevis has earned his maiden Proteas call-up ahead of South Africa's white-ball tour against Australia.
