YART trio united in their EWC cause

YART – Yamaha Official Team EWC riders Niccolò Canepa, Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika are united in their cause to complete the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship season on a high. After the Austrian team’s Suzuka set-back earlier this month, Canepa, Fritz and Hanika have targeted success in the 100th-anniversary Bol d’Or when they could still snatch the EWC title from current leader Yoshimura SERT Motul.

Fritz sorry for late podium loss in EWC Suzuka 8 Hours

Marvin Fritz apologised to YART – Yamaha Official Team EWC after his rare mistake cost the Yamalube-backed squad a seemingly certain podium finish in the 43rd Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, round three of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship. Along with team-mates Niccolò Canepa and Karel Hanika, Fritz had fought back into podium contention after an issue at the start of Sunday’s race left the #7 Yamaha YZF-R1 down in P25 on the opening lap.

HRC take win, SERT first of season contenders in EWC Suzuka 8 Hours

Whilst there might have been drama and heartbreak behind, it was a dominant win for #33 Team HRC in 43rd Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours with the line-up of Tetsuta Nagashima, Takumi Takahashi and Iker Lecuona taking the chequered flag by over a lap in the third round of the FIM Endurance World Championship. There has been late drama and a safety car in the final hour of the race after the leading season-contender #7 YART — Yamaha Official Team YZF-M1 got caught up with the #74 Akeno Speed – Yamaha Superstock bike at T13 such that rider Marvin Fritz had to dig the Yamaha out of the air barriers to get it back to the pits.

Canepa heralds YART pace at EWC Suzuka

YART – Yamaha Official Team EWC have been on the money right from the off for the third round of the FIM Endurance World Championship. Friday saw Italian Niccolò Canepa go quickest in the Q1 Yellow Rider session, as well as being fastest during his time in the Night Practice Session, which was topped by team-mate Marvin Fritz who was out last for the squad.

YART slips in a late fast one in the night wet runs for EWC Suzuka practice

YART — Yamaha Official Team EWC rider Marvin Fritz was the fastest man on a wet but slowly drying Suzuka circuit in a delayed Night Free Practice Session for the 43rd Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours, round three of the FIM Endurance World Championship. The German rider on the #7 Yamaha posted his time in the final ten minutes of the hour-long session, using wet Bridgestone tyres to top local hero Kazuki Watanbe on the #1 Yoshimura SERT Motul Suzuki GSX-R1000R Frtiz’s 2m23.908s was almost half a second ahead of Watanbe’s slightly earlier lap, also set using the Bridgestone wets.

HRC blast into the 2m04s with Nagashima in EWC Suzuka first qualifying

Tetsuta Nagashima unleashed the opening salvo in the Suzuka 8 Hours qualifying contest with blinding lap to put the #33 Team HRC Honda CBR1000RR-RSP into 2m04s territory in the first of the three Q1 sessions. Nagashima used every bit of his Bridgestones’ adhesion and knew he had set a blinder with his 2m04.942s, waving to the crowds as he returned to the pits halfway through the 20-minute first session for Blue Riders.

2022 Suzuka Eight-Hours: Podium the target for YART’s Canepa

YART ended the final Suzuka Eight-Hours test on top of the podium and rider Nico Canepa believes there is no reason why the squad can’t at least stand on the podium this weekend.
