Canadian star Jonathan David scored his 23rd goal of the season to set Lille on the way to a 3-1 win over Marseille on Friday that kept them firmly on course for next season's Champions League. David's penalty put Lille ahead early in the second half. Remy Cabella doubled their lead on 71 minutes by scoring against his former club. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang claimed a goal back for Marseille, but substitute Gabriel Gudmundsson made sure of the victory for Lille late on. The northern side, who face Aston Villa next week in their first ever European quarter-final in the Europa Conference League, move up to third in Ligue 1 ahead of the rest of the weekend's matches.
Paris Saint-Germain overcame a controversial first-half sending-off to win 2-0 away to bitter rivals Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with Portuguese duo Vitinha and Goncalo Ramos scoring their goals. Marseille's hopes of a first home league win against PSG since November 2011 were raised when the away side had Lucas Beraldo sent off five minutes before the interval. But the Qatar-owned club still came out on top, with Vitinha exchanging passes with Ousmane Dembele before firing home a superb opening goal in the 53rd minute on a wet night at the Velodrome.

Surprise package Brest beat Lorient 1-0 in a Brittany derby on Sunday to reclaim second place in Ligue 1 and remain on course for Champions League qualification. Former Lyon and Rennes winger Romain Del Castillo scored the only goal of the game for the visitors four minutes from time, placing a low shot into the far corner of the net. Brest then held on for the victory despite having Billal Brahimi sent off in stoppage time, as they got back to winning ways after taking just one point from their last two outings. The result lifts them back up into second place above Monaco, who won 5-2 at Metz on Saturday.
Kylian Mbappe is set to sample the fiercest rivalry in French football for the final time before his expected departure at the end of the season as Paris Saint-Germain make the trip to Marseille on Sunday. There is no love lost between the two biggest clubs in France, even if Marseille have struggled to compete with PSG for honours since the Qatari takeover of the capital side over a decade ago. The Parisians come into this game with a huge 12-point lead at the top of the table from nearest challengers Brest with just eight matches remaining, meaning Mbappe is surely certain to win a sixth title in seven seasons with the club.
Liverpool scored four times inside 14 minutes in a 6-1 thrashing of Sparta Prague to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League. AC Milan, Marseille, Roma and West Ham were among the other sides to also book their place in Friday's quarter-final draw. Despite leading 5-1 from the first leg, Jurgen Klopp named a surprisingly strong Liverpool side and was well-rewarded as the Reds remain on course for a quadruple of trophies.
