Pakistan vs England, 1st T20I Live Score Updates: Babar Azam-led Pakistan will look to start the seven-match series on a good note when they take the field against England on Tuesday at the National Stadium, Karachi. Pakistan failed to win the Asia Cup after stumbling to a loss against Sri Lanka in the final and they would now hope to return to winning ways. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have received a lot of flak for their strike rate so it would be interesting to see whether they change their approach or not. (LIVE SCORECARD)
The ICC T20 World Cup will begin in Australia from next month and most of the teams have announced their 15-member squads for the event. The Aussies under Aaron Finch will be looking to defend their title at home while the likes of New Zealand, England, India and Pakistan will look to the Aussies a tough fight. A rejuvenated Sri Lankan side also looks threatening while the quality of South Africa and West Indies in this format can also not be ignored.
Jos Buttler said players had no issues with the inclusion of Alex Hales in the Twenty20 World Cup squad after the batsman received his first call-up since being dropped from the squad in 2019. Hales, 33, was called up as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow, who was ruled out of the tournament in Australia after suffering a lower limb injury while playing golf. In 2019, Hales was withdrawn from the preliminary squad for the 50-overs World Cup after the Guardian newspaper reported he was serving a three-week ban for recreational drug use. "I spoke to lots of the senior players to make sure that no one would have any issues with Alex being back in the team if we wanted to select him. No one had any issues," Buttler told reporters on Thursday ahead of their T20 series in Pakistan. "He's obviously been in excellent form. We know what a talented player he is and he's gained a lot of experience as well since the last time he played for England."
England batsman Alex Hales is set to return to the national team after three years as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday named him in their squad for next month's Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.
Jonny Bairstow was ruled out of the Twenty20 World Cup due to an injury, while out-of-form opener Jason Roy was dropped from the squad for the tournament in Australia beginning next month. Bairstow was initially included in the selection but the England and Wales Cricket Board later said he had been ruled out of the rest of the summer and the T20 World Cup after suffering a lower limb injury in a freak accident while playing golf in Leeds on Friday. Bairstow said in a post on Instagram that he was injured after slipping on the golf course and that he would need to undergo an operation.
Jason Roy has been left out of England's Twenty20 World Cup squad as the opener paid for his run of poor form.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday named a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup slated to be played in Australia. Jos Buttler would be leading the side, while opening batter Jason Roy has been dropped. Seam bowlers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have recovered from their respective injuries and have been named in both squads for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and the IT20 tour of Pakistan in September.
