Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st T20I Live Updates:Pakistan and New Zealand face each other in the first T20I of the five-match series, starting Thursday. Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan and New Zealand look to fine-tune their squad and assess the players who could feature in the 15-player squad for the marquee event. With their majority of players involved in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, New Zealand have named experienced all-rounder Michael Bracewell as the skipper of the tour. Meanwhile, Pakistan will be led by Babar Azam who was recently reinstated as the skipper of the white ball format in place of Shaheen Afridi. (Live Scorecard)
Michael Bracewell will captain New Zealand for the first time on their Twenty20 tour of Pakistan this month, with a host of top names missing because they are playing in the Indian Premier League. Pakistan host New Zealand for five Twenty20 internationals, starting in Rawalpindi on April 18, as both teams warm up for June's T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies. All-rounder Bracewell was named captain Wednesday on his return from more than a year out with a ruptured Achilles and broken finger in the absence of regular skipper Kane Williamson, who is playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL.
Michael Bracewell was named captain of a weakened New Zealand squad to play five Twenty20 internationals in Pakistan later this month as part of preparations for June's World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States.
NZ vs AUS, 2nd T20I Live Updates: New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bowl in the second T20I against Australia at the Eden Park in Auckland. The hosts will look to level the series after going down in the series opener. However, the Kiwis will be without the services of star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, with Josh Clarke replacing him in the XI. Australia have also made two changes to the side with Matthew Wade and Nathan Ellis replacing David Warner and Mitchell Starc. (Live Scorecard)
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker is likely to return to the hot seat on Saturday evening after suffering from illness last weekend.
New Zealand strike bowler Trent Boult was recalled on Wednesday for the T20I series against Australia but the hosts will be without Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell. Boult is in a 14-man squad for the three-match series but only available for the last two games in Auckland, with fellow veteran seamer Tim Southee to play just the opening game, in Wellington on February 21. The 34-year-old Boult has been infrequently selected for international duty since being released from his New Zealand central contract in August 2022, allowing him to play in more domestic T20 leagues.
