BILBAO, SPAIN: Cycling’s all time great sprinter Mark Cavendish has nothing to prove except perhaps to himself as he embarks on his final Tour de France on Saturday.
The 110th edition of the Tour de France is fast approaching and the excitement is building for the most prestigious cycling race in the world. This year's route starts in Bilbao, Spain, on July 1 and culminates with the final stage on July 23, the traditional finish through the cobbled streets of the Champs-Elysees.
Alberto Contador has backed Mark Cavendish to secure a win at the Tour de France to break out of a tie with Eddie Merckx for the most stage wins in the famous Grand Tour. Cavendish bounced back from a spell in the wilderness to win four stages in the 2021 edition of the race to move level with Merckx on 34 victories.
