Maria Sakkari crashed out in the French Open second round Wednesday, going down 7-6 (7/5), 7-6 (7/4) to Czech world number 81 Karolina Muchova. Sakkari, a 2021 Roland Garros semi-finalist, is the fifth women's top-10 seed to lose in the first four days at Roland Garros.
Karolina Muchova returned to the form she showed in the first half of last year by knocking fourth seed Maria Sakkari out in the second round of the French Open. A tight match was settled by two tie-breaks, with the Czech coming through 7-6 7-6 in 2 hours and 27 minutes. Ad/> Sakkari has become the second highest seed to exit the women's draw, after the shock defeat of reigning champion Barbora Krejcikova.
