Australia, the five-time champions, will face Pakistan in Match 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 20 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India. The match is scheduled to begin at 02:00 PM IST. Both Australia and Pakistan have faced contrasting starts to their campaigns so far. The Aussies have lost two of their three matches while Pakistan's two-match winning run was halted by a seven-wicket loss to arch-rivals India. Australia have played three matches in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Former Pakistan cricket team skipper Salman Butt expressed his disappointment at the standard of umpiring in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023. The dismissals of Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis during Australia's match against South Africa led to a massive controversy and later, both David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were not happy with the decisions that went against them. Butt believes that the standard of umpiring was not up to the mark or even close to being "world-class" during the India vs Pakistan match as well with Mohammad Rizwan surviving an LBW appeal thanks to a well-taken review.
Australian cricket team star David Warner won hearts as he helped the groundstaff in covering the pitch when rain interrupted play at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Monday. Sri Lanka were 178 for four against Australia when rain stopped play and while most of the cricketers were quickly leaving the field, Warner stayed back and he was seen dragging the covers along with the stadium staff. The video of him helping them was posted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their social media profiles and users were all praise for the veteran cricketer's gesture.

The Australian camp was not happy with the third umpire's decision to rule Marcus Stoinis out in the 134-run defeat to South Africa in the World Cup, with batter Marnus Labuschagne and coach Andrew McDonald saying they will seek clarity from the ICC. Stoinis was adjudged out caught behind in the 18th over off a Kagiso Rabada delivery after South Africa reviewed the decision. The Ultra edge showed a spike, as the ball touched Stoinis' bottom hand. But what made things confusing was that Stoinis' top hand left the bat and whether the top and bottom hand were both connected to the bat was debatable.
