South Africa survived an early scare before David Miller guided them to a nervy four-wicket victory over the Netherlands in the Twenty20 World Cup in Long Island, New York on Saturday.
David Miller made a mind-over-matter fifty on a tough pitch as South Africa survived some anxious moments to beat their bogey team Netherlands by four wickets in the T20 World Cup on Saturday. This was South Africa's second consecutive win as they had defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in their opening Group D match. After SA elected to bowl, pacer Ottneil Baartman registered his best bowling figures of 4 for 11 as South Africa produced a fine bowling effort to restrict Netherlands to 103 for nine. Despite some early hiccups, Miller (59 not out off 51) played a gem of an innings to guide South Africa home with a ball to spare. It was a torrid start to the run chase for South Africa as they lost Quinton de Kock in the first delivery via a run out. It came after a terrible mix-up with Reeza Hendricks.
CAPE TOWN : South Africa’s power hitters make a compelling case for why they can emerge winners of the T20 World Cup in the United States and West Indies, but whether they have the bowlers to back it up is the big question heading into the June 1-29 tournament.
Shreyas Iyer and Pat Cummins engaged in hilarious banter ahead of the IPL 2024 final between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Sunday. Both the skippers took part in a photoshoot along with the IPL trophy which involved a visit to the Marina Beach and an auto ride that produced some funny moments. Shreyas spoke about riding an autoricksaw during his young days and even charged Cummins Rs 20 crore for the auto ride. The comment left both players in splits as it was a reference to the Rs 20.5 crore price tag that Cummins attracted from Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 auction. Shreyas also asked him about being part of the KKR team that won the IPL back in 2014.
Former India cricketer Suresh Raina said Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) should back their batting-first approach in the upcoming final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. Speaking to JioCinema, Raina said that Pat Cummins' presence in the SRH squad will be a key point since the Sunrisers skipper has already won the ODI World Cup recently. The former CSK cricketer added the SRH skipper knows how to keep the dressing room running.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine needs 18 runs to become the first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) player to score 500-plus runs and take 15 wickets in a single season of the tournament. After playing 13 matches in the IPL 2024, the Caribbean allrounder has scored 482 runs at a strike rate of 179.85. In the 17th season of the IPL, Narine showcased a stunning performance as an opener and needs only 18 runs to cross the 500-run mark. The 35-year-old will also have the chance to become the fourth KKR player to score 500 runs in an IPL season after Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell, and Gautam Gambhir.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins needs three more wickets to break Shane Warne's record of taking the most wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) season as captain. Cummins will get an opportunity to achieve the elusive record on Sunday as Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final match of the IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Cummins picked up 17 wickets in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.
Kagiso Rabada's premature departure from the Indian Premier League (IPL) might be a nervous jolt to the Proteas' system in their build-up to the T20 World Cup, but his apparent leg injury won't affect his availability for the showpiece tournament in the USA and Caribbean next month.
