"At Least Try For A Six": Ex-India Star 'Irked' By Hardik Pandya's Batting vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

The IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday turned to be a proper run fest with a combined 523 runs scored between the two sides. Sunrisers Hyderabad were in devastating form as they posted a total of 277/3 and in reply, Mumbai Indians played good cricket but ended up falling short by 31 runs. While there were several good batting performances in the match, former India star Manoj Tiwary was disappointed with MI skipper Hardik Pandya's performance. In his analysis, Tiwari said that he expected a 'big-hitting player' like Hardik to look for more big shots and in a match where the target was so high, his strike rate of 120 did not do his side any favours.

Hardik Pandya "Going To Get Booed Louder": Ex India Star's Warning On MI's First Home Game

Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary expects Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya to be booed a "bit louder" when the team plays its first home IPL game here on April 1 but he feels that the flamboyant all-rounder has the temperament to deal with it. Pandya, who replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain before the start of the season, was booed by fans in Ahmedabad when the side played against his former franchise Gujarat Titans on Sunday.

"What Is The Problem?": Mohammed Shami Questions Hardik Pandya's MI Captaincy, Takes 'Tailender' Dig

Hardik Pandya's start to Mumbai Indians captaincy was a forgettable one. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians started the IPL 2024 campaign with a six-run loss to Gujarat Titans. Chasing a target of 169, Mumbai Indians fell short despite the game going into the last over. Captain Hardik Pandya could score only 11 off four deliveries but what was more baffling was his batting position at No. 7. The decision has been widely criticised and Pandya's Indian cricket teammate Mohammed Shami is also sursprised.

"Had I Not Fought With Gautam Gambhir...": Retired India Star's Big Revelation

Former Indian cricket team batter Manoj Tiwary opened up about how a fight with then skipper Gautam Gambhir cut short his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Tiwary was an integral part of the side between 2010 and 2013 with the batter scoring the winning boundary when the franchise claimed their first IPL title under Gambhir's captaincy. However, in an interview with Anandabazar Patrika following his retirement from domestic cricket, Tiwary said that he would have played for KKR for 2-3 more years if the spat with Gambhir did not happen and the added association with the franchise would likely have resulted in more financial gains for the cricketer.

Ex-India Star, Who Suggested Ranji Trophy To Be 'Scrapped', Now Says This

A day after his retirement from cricket, Bengal star Manoj Tiwary raised concerns over the IPL-centric approach of young cricketers and strongly advocated for greater emphasis on Ranji Trophy. The 38-year-old Tiwary, who served Bengal for about two decades and represented India in 12 ODIs and three T20Is, had recently posted on X that Ranji Trophy should be "scrapped" but did not elaborate on the subject as he was an active BCCI cricketer. He was fined 20 per cent of his match fee for that remark.
