Magnus Carlsen on Tuesday said that hosts India stand a strong chance of winning medals at the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad. India will be hosting the showpiece event for the first time in the prestigious tournament's history from July 28 to August 10. "Both Indian teams have a very strong and impressive line of players and I think both have a chance to be amongst the medals," Carlsen said.
The five-time champion is NOT running away from the challenger. For, he had defeated the same challenger (Ian Nepomniachchtchi of Russia) 4-0 in their match. But the Norwegian is tired of the Matchplay process and feels even the successful campaign is not rewarding enough vis-à-vis the effort.

"I feel I don't have a lot to gain, I don't particularly like (the championship matches), and although I'm sure a match would be interesting for historical reasons and all of that, I don't have any inclination to play and I will simply not play the match," he said on the podcast for his sponsor Unibet.
