MANAMA : Mercedes looked a long way off the pace in practice for the Bahrain season-opener on Friday and seven times Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton and new team mate George Russell saw no quick fix.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen edged Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in second practice at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
Reigning champion Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the second free practice session, whilst Lewis Hamilton still struggled to get on top of his Mercedes, finishing ninth and +1.208 seconds behind his Dutch rival. Meanwhile, Ferrari once again impressed, finishing second and third quickest.
