Max Verstappen took pole position for the fifth time of the season, with Lando Norris alongside him on the grid in P2 for Sunday’s British Grand Prix. There was an element of added glamour at Silverstone with Brad Pitt’s film — rumoured to be called Apex — in attendance with their altered F2 car, which will be present at other races for some of the season. Ad Drama kicked in from the off in occasionally rainy conditions as there were a couple of red flags early on, one caused by Kevin Magnussen’s Haas.
Eight drivers have been struck with further time penalties after the Austrian Grand Prix, including Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. It was business as usual for Red Bull's Max Verstappen who claimed his fifth straight victory of the season with an almost flawless display. Ad But there was drama as seven penalties were handed out during the race for repeated track limits violations – but more followed after Aston Martin lodged a protest.
Stewards at the Austrian Grand Prix have upheld a protest by the Aston Martin F1 team that claimed «a number of cars» were not penalised for exceeding track, meaning the race result is not yet final.

Max Verstappen was cautious to blame the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium for a fatal crash that claimed the life of a fellow-Dutchman on Saturday. Verstappen said he felt "incredibly sad" to learn of the death of teenager Dilano Van 't Hoff in rain-swept conditions on the Kemmel Straight in an accident during a Formula Regional European Championship race.
