Matt Henry has been ruled out of the World Cup in India with a torn right hamstring and replaced in the squad by fellow New Zealand paceman Kyle Jamieson.
New Zealand pace spearhead Matt Henry was on Friday ruled out of the World Cup with a torn right hamstring and has been replaced by Kyle Jamieson. The 31-year-old sustained the injury during New Zealand's match against South Africa in Pune on Wednesday and an MRI scan confirming that he had a grade two lower tear, which will require a minimum of two to four weeks of recovery time. "We're gutted for him," head coach Gary Stead said in Bengaluru.
Pace bowling all-rounder Kyle Jamieson has been called up in the New Zealand squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup as a cover for Matt Henry, who sustained an injury during match against South Africa at Pune. "Kyle Jamieson has been called into the BLACKCAPS ICC Cricket World Cup squad in India as cover. Jamieson, who was previously with the squad as cover for Tim Southee earlier in the tournament, will arrive in Bengaluru late on Thursday ahead of Saturday's game against Pakistan," said New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in a statement.
New Zealand pacer Tim Southee will be joining New Zealand's upcoming ODI World Cup squad as the player continues to recover after surgery for his fractured right thumb. Southee dislocated the finger while attempting a catch during New Zealand's fourth and final ODI against England at Lord's earlier this month. He subsequently went through surgery, and will now fly to India to take part in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Tim Southee will be part of New Zealand's squad at next month's World Cup after progressing in his recovery from a thumb injury, the country's cricket board (NZC) said on Tuesday, adding that Kyle Jamieson would travel to India as a "contingency".

England crushed New Zealand by 100 runs in the fourth one-day international on Friday to seal a morale-boosting 3-1 series victory ahead of their World Cup title defence. Jos Buttler's power-packed team were indebted to opener Dawid Malan, who made a sparkling 127 off 114 balls in a total of 311-9 from 50 overs at a sun-drenched Lord's. New Zealand, dramatically beaten by England in the 2019 World Cup final on the same ground, struggled badly in their run chase, slumping to 211 all out in 38.2 overs.
