Promising batter Tilak Varma scored his maiden first- class hundred while Kuldeep Yadav bowled with much more control as the first 'unofficial Test' between India A and New Zealand A ended in a draw on Sunday. The match ended after New Zealand scored 133 for 4 in their second innings. This was after India A skipper Priyank Panchal declared his team's innings at 571 for 6 with Tilak becoming the third centurion of the innings with a fine 121 off 183 balls.

Sarfaraz Khan will be aiming to convert his stupendous domestic performances into big runs at the international level when he takes strike for India A in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A, starting from Thursday. The New Zealand A side includes at least half a dozen of players who have represented the senior national team in some format over the years and would give competition to the home team.

Gujarat opener Priyank Panchal was on Wednesday named captain of the 16-member India 'A' squad for the three four-day games against New Zealand 'A', starting later this month. Apart from Panchal, the squad also includes the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Kuldeep Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna. Pace sensation Umran Malik, 22, has also been named in the squad. The selectors also took into consideration performances of those players who fared well in the domestic season and named the likes of Bengal's star batter Abhimanyu Easwaran, Madhya Pradesh's Ranji Trophy winning hero Rajat Patidar, and Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan.

Sikandar Raza garnered a lot of applause as he scored a century for Zimbabwe while chasing a mammoth target of 290 against India in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on Monday at Harare. With Shubman Gill's maiden international century, the KL Rahul-led side posted 289/8 in 50 overs. It was then, Raza took the matter into his hands to smash 115 and leave Zimbabwe needing 17 runs off 12 balls for victory. But, India had the last laugh as he was caught by Gill in the penultimate over, who took a fantastic catch to dismiss Raza. Apart from the brilliant catch, the cricket fans all-over the world, got to witness a heartfelt moment when Ishan Kishan and Kuldeep Yadav came to laud Raza after his dismissal.

Shubman Gill finally ended a long wait for his first international ton when he reached the triple figure mark off just 82 balls against Zimbabwe in the third ODI in Harare on Monday. The talented opener, who will turn 23 next week, had scored seven 50-plus scores in the 11 Tests and eight ODIs since making his international debut in January, 2019. However, despite reaching the 90s on a couple of occasions the century eluded Gill. But, on Monday, Gill ensured that he gets to raise his bat for the first international ton.

The KL Rahul-led Indian cricket team had a great day at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday as they beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series. Opening batters Shubman Gill (82) and Shikhar Dhawan Gill (81) were unbeaten as the tourists knocked off a modest target of 190 with 19.1 overs to spare. The home side were all out for 189 in 40.3 overs, thanks largely to a brave 70-run ninth-wicket stand between Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav had an excellent IPL 2022 for Delhi Capitals and hence he was named in India's squad for the five-match T20I series against South Africa. However, on the eve of the first T20I, Kuldeep was ruled out after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday. The spinner on Thursday said that he is disappointed to miss out on the series and is looking forward to coming back stronger.
