India wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is indebted to West Indies stalwart Sunil Narine for instilling in him the importance of bowling length balls, which, he says, has helped him become a more potent bowler. Kuldeep and Narine were team-mates in Kolkata Knight Riders for a long time, following which the Indian made a switch to Delhi Capitals, while the West Indian all-rounder continues to be with the defending champions for more than 10 years. "As a bowler, you must aim to dominate. Players like Jasprit Bumrah and Sunil Narine have done that consistently. I learned a lot from Sunil Narine when I was with KKR. He was ahead of his time. He always emphasised the importance of bowling length," Kuldeep, who was part of India's Champions Trophy-winning squad recently, told JioHotstar.

Kuldeep Yadav has emerged as one of India's strike bowlers, particularly in white-ball cricket, having starred in the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 triumphs. Kuldeep picked up 10 wickets in five matches at the former, and seven wickets in five games at the latter, as India went on to win both. However, Kuldeep was asked by former Australia captain Michael Clarke as to why he does not play all three formats of the game, to which the chinaman bowler gave a thoughtful answer.

With India and New Zealand battling it out in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, the Rohit Sharma-led side may be left to rue their fielding efforts after putting down four catches in the first innings as half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53 not out) powered Blackcaps to 251/7 in 50 overs. The Rohit-led side dropped four chances during the summit clash, taking their tally to nine dropped catches in the campaign, the most by any team. They also have the third lowest catch efficiency rate in eight-team competition with 70 per cent ahead of only Bangladesh and Pakistan.
