Virat Kohli is my idol, trying to add his level of intensity in my own game: Rajat Patidar

Virat Kohli is his idol and he tries to imbibe his intensity in his own game. Patidar received his maiden national side call-up for three-match ODI series against South Africa, which will start from Thursday onwards in Lucknow. "Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers are my idols. They are highly experienced in international cricket. I looked at them and wondered how I would talk to them. But then they talked to me themselves, it was a good moment for me. It gave me confidence. I have learnt a lot from Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli, and AB De Villiers in the nets while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Especially Virat, who carries the same intensity in both nets and matches. It feels good watching it and I try to add on that intensity in my own game," said Patidar in a video posted by BCCI.

New Zealand Skipper Tom Latham's Blunt 'Virat Kohli Admission' After Failed Plan Against India

After Mohamed Shami claimed five wickets in his maiden World Cup 2023 game, the 'Virat Kohli wall' stood in front of New Zealand and their 5th successive victory in the tournament. Kohli scored a whopping 95 runs as he led the Indian team's successful chase of 274 runs. Though Virat missed out on a hundred, his 95-run knock was enough to take the team home with 2 overs to spare. After the match, even New Zealand's stand-in skipper Tom Latham admitted that it's difficult to come up with a strategy for Kohli as he has answers to most plans.

Needless to say, the infamous Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir spat was one of the most unforgettable moments of the IPL 2023. The incident happened after the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants on May 1. After LSG lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator earlier this week, the crowd in Chennai was heard chanting Kohli's name while Gambhir was having a chat with batting great and MI mentor Sachin Tendulkar.

Gill, who is considered by many as the heir to Kohli in the Indian cricket team, was lauded by the who's who of the cricketing world. As the internet bowed down to the 'prince' Shubman Gill, Lucknow Super Giants posted a tweet that wasn't taken in all positivity by RCB fans.

RCB Predicted XI Against RR In IPL 2023: Will Virat Kohli Captain Again?

Virat Kohli returned as Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper for the match against Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last time around, with full-time skipper Faf du Plessis deciding to become an 'Impact Player' due to a small injury problem. As the Bengaluru franchise takes on Rajasthan Royals in the first match of the double-header on Sunday, it would be interesting to see if a similar approach is opted for by RCB. Du Plessis and Kohli did the bulk of the scoring with the bat against PBKS but the franchise needs other batters to step up to, especially aginst an in-form side like the Royals.

"I Love Virat": Ben Stokes Reacts To Kohli's Message After His ODI Retirement

Following Ben Stokes' shock ODI retirement announcement on Monday, Virat KOhli had a special message for the star allrounder. "You're the most competitive bloke I've ever played against. Respect," Kohli commented on Stokes' Instagram post. Stokes released a statement on social media to announce his retirement from the 50-over format, stating that playing all three formats was "just unsustainable" for him.
