The women of Team Canada contributed to more than half the team's medal total of 24 so far at Beijing 2022.
'L'Angelo Blondo' they call her in Italy - 'The Blond Angel.'
The banner photo on Kim Boutin’s Twitter account says it all. Taken at PyeongChang 2018, the photo shows the Canadian short track speed skater creating half a heart shape with her hand; the other half is mirrored by Republic of Korea’s Choi Min-Jeong. Both have just received their medals – gold for the home athlete in the 1500m and bronze for the North American – in the second individual event of three for the pair.
Kim Boutin crashed out of the women's 1000m heats and will miss out on the chance to compete in the short track finals. She was well fancied to add to the trio of medals she won four years ago and the bronze she secured in Beijing in the 500m, but fortune was not on her side.
Britain's Kathryn Thomson was unable to qualify from the heats of short-track speed skating's 1000m at the Winter Olympics, as Suzanne Schulting set an Olympic record to progress. Thomson vented her frustration when she crashed out of the 500m on the opening corner on Sunday and she got off to a slow start in what was the first of the 1000m heats, before she was dropped by the other three athletes with two laps to go.
