Kamila Valieva admits she is “happy but tired” after being cleared to compete in the women’s individual figure skating event at the Winter Olympics. Valieva failed a drugs test in December, but the positive only came to light during Beijing 2022 – after she had helped the Russian Olympic Committee win gold in the team event.

Sha'Carri Richardson has hit out at the decision to clear Kamila Valieva to compete at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Richardson was a gold-medal hope at the Summer Olympics for Team USA, but missed the event after testing positive for cannabis in the run-up to Tokyo. She has taken to social media to criticise the decision to allow Valieva to continue competing at the Beijing Games.
