2nd Test: Marathon Kraigg Brathwaite knock leaves England facing a draw against West Indies

Barbados): Kraigg Brathwaite's grinding, marathon 160 hauled West Indies to within 96 runs of England's first innings total, with the tourists still entertaining the prospect of forcing victory going into the final day of the second Test at the Kensington Oval. At stumps on the fourth day on Saturday, England were 40 without loss in their second innings, an overall lead of 136, after the home side were eventually dismissed after tea for 411 in reply to the visitors' first innings effort of 507 for nine declared. As with the drawn first Test a week earlier in Antigua when England went into the last day at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium ahead by 153 runs with nine wickets in hand, the possibilities of an outright result mean there will be a greater level of interest than for the preceding four days of generally tedious cricket. Brathwaite, who was eventually bowled by Jack Leach, played throughout as he does best with the West Indies captain occupying the crease for ten minutes short of 12 hours during which he faced 489 deliveries and stroked 17 fours. Leach, whose innings-leading tally of three wickets came at a cost of 118 runs off a phenomenal 69.5 overs, may yet be called upon in the final afternoon to take advantage of whatever assistance there may be for the spinners even though the left-arm slow bowler had to work long and hard for his successes over two days of play in the first innings.

West Indies vs England 2nd Test Live Score And Updates

West Indies vs England 2nd Test Live Score: Jayden Seales removed England opener Zak Crawley for a duck but captain Joe Root and young opener steadied the visitors' ship in the second Test against West Indies at Bridgetown in Bardbados. Root won the toss and chose to bat first and handed debuts to Saqib Mahmood and Matthew Fisher. The latter only learned of his inclusion in the final 11 this morning when fast-medium bowler Craig Overton fell ill overnight and was ruled out of consideration. West Indies  on the other hand have retained the same XI from the drawn first Test which ended four days ago in Antigua.

West Indies vs England 1st Test: Marathon man Nkrumah Bonner gives West Indies edge over weary England

Nkrumah Bonner's considerable reserves of patience and determination paid off with an invaluable second Test century as the West Indies closed the third day of the first Test against England at 373 for nine at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday. Bonner's innings of 123 spanned more than nine hours and while it will hardly ever be remembered for any attacking style or quality of strokeplay, his effort earned the home side a first innings lead of 62 runs with one wicket in hand going into day four. More than the basic numbers of the match situation though, it could prove to be an important psychological edge, especially as England would have hardly expected to be toiling through an entire day's play after they separated the overnight pair of Bonner and Jason Holder within a few minutes of the start.
