Reality of having a strong squad is a couple of guys will miss out on Tests, says Australia captain Pat Cummins

Australia Test skipper Pat Cummins has said that the "reality" of having a really strong squad is that a couple of guys will always miss out on Test matches. Cummins's remark comes as Australia gets ready to lock horns with Pakistan in a three-match Test series, beginning March 4. "In terms of the fast bowlers, Scotty Boland has just had a fantastic summer, Josh Hazlewood and Starc are superstars, so already one of those is going to miss, you would expect," ESPNcricinfo quoted Cummins as saying.

Australia's Pat Cummins, David Warner to miss Pakistan limited-overs matches

Pat Cummins and opening batsman David Warner will not feature in limited-overs meetings with Pakistan next month after they were left out of the squad for a trio of one-day internationals and a Twenty20 clash. Cummins and Warner, along with bowlers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon, have been included in the squad for Australia's three-Test tour of Pakistan, but will not be involved following the conclusion of that series. Australia will be embarking on their first trip to Pakistan since 1998, playing Test matches in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore before returning to Rawalpindi for limited-overs matches from March 29 to April 5. Aaron Finch will lead a 16-man limited-overs squad that includes Test players Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith.

Watch: Matthew Wade, Aaron Finch Combine Brilliantly For "Crazy Run Out" In 4th T20I Against Sri Lanka

Australia clinched the five-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka with two games to spare. With the series already in the bag, Australia made a couple of changes to their playing XI but even in the dead rubber the Australians didn't let their standards drop in the field. During the Sri Lankan innings, captain Aaron Finch and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade showed great presence of mind to run out Maheesh Theekshana. The duo combined brilliantly as Theekshana's valiant dive went in vain.
