The stage is all set for another exciting clash, as Australia and Pakistan prepare to go up against each other in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday. The match will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Australia, despite getting off to a disappointing start to the tournament, had something to smile about in their match against Sri Lanka. After a clinical display from their bowlers, Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh steered the side to their first win of the ICC World Cup 2023. Pakistan had a terrific start to the tournament. They were comprehensive against the Netherlands with the bat and ball in their opening match and took two points comfortably. Against Sri Lanka, their bowlers had a difficult outing, but Mohammad Rizwan and Abdulla Shafique's centuries took the side home.
Australia and Pakistan are set to take on each other in Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday. The match will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Pakistan were off to a pretty good start in the tournament. After two wins against Netherlands and Sri Lanka, they were outplayed in Ahmedabad by arch-rivals India and registered their first defeat of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Australia, on the other hand, had a forgettable outing so far in the tournament, besides the victory in their last match against Sri Lanka. A defeat to India in the opening match was followed by another poor performance against South Africa. Their batting unit failed to touch the 200 mark in both of these matches.
Australia are face Pakistan in match No. 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday, October 20. While the two teams take each other on the playing field, the fantasy cricket managers have a chance to pick their favourite players and form their teams. The performance of the players on the field will translate to points for each fantasy team picked, and the manager with the team with the most points stands a chance to win attractive prizes.
Australia, the five-time champions, will face Pakistan in Match 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 20 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India. The match is scheduled to begin at 02:00 PM IST. Both Australia and Pakistan have faced contrasting starts to their campaigns so far. The Aussies have lost two of their three matches while Pakistan's two-match winning run was halted by a seven-wicket loss to arch-rivals India. Australia have played three matches in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Pat Cummins and Co. are currently placed seventh in the league table with two points, having won only one of their three games. Pakistan, meanwhile, are fourth on the points table with two wins from three matches.
Australian batting has not clicked as a unit so far in the World Cup, and captain Pat Cummins hoped that his batters will fire on all cylinders against Pakistan in Bengaluru on Friday. Apart from Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh none of the other Australian batsmen have been able to make a fifty in the tournament so far, and Cummins was banking on the batsmen-friendly nature of the Chinnaswamy stadium to buck the trend. "You know, especially at a venue like here in Bangalore, I dare say it's going to be high scoring, smaller field. Pitch is always really good here. So, yeah, batting is super important. I think the way the guys started last game (against Sri Lanka) really set the tone," said Cummins during his pre-match press meet on Thursday.
Leg-spinner Adam Zampa returned figures of 4-47 while Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis hit fifties to help Australia beat Sri Lanka by five wickets for their first win at the 2023 Cricket World Cup on Monday.
Sri Lanka should have been closer to the 300-runs mark after making a strong start to Monday's Cricket World Cup match but they lost their way in the middle overs when Australia's bowlers found their range, batter Pathum Nissanka said.
