Yuzvendra Chahal might not have ended up on the winners podium after Rajasthan Royals lost to Gujarat Titans in the IPL final but had a lot to be pleased about with his overall performance in the IPL 2022. The leg-spinner won the Purple Cap by taking a total of 27 wickets in IPL 2022. Going into the match, Chahal was in second position despite having taken the same number of wickets (26) as RCB's Wanindu Hasaranga. But by the virtue of a better economy rate, the Sri Lankan was heading the list. In the IPL final on Sunday, Chahal took one wicket to take the outright lead in the Purple Cap race. Chahal also surpassed Imran Tahir to become the spinner with most wickets in an IPL season.

Jos Buttler was at his scintillating best as he played an unbeaten knock of 106 to help RR chase down 158 with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare. After the win, the entire RR camp erupted in joy and now they would be looking to go one step ahead and win the trophy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been in remarkable form for the franchise in the ongoing IPL 2022 season, registering 324 runs in 15 matches. This is the biggest reason that Karthik has been named in India's T20I squad for the five-match series against South Africa. Karthik is averaging 64.80 for RCB this season and owing to his fine showing, former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson picked the wicketkeeper as the "standout" performer for the franchise this season.
The Gujarat Titans, one of the two debutant teams have already made it to the final and await the winner of Qualifier 2, which will be played later today in Ahmedabad between the 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are still looking for their maiden IPL title. If RCB win tonight's match, a brand new IPL champion will be guaranteed.
