Cricket continues to capture the hearts and minds of people all over the world.
Mitchell Marsh's run-a-ball 118 was the cornerstone of Australia's 263 all out on the first day of the third Ashes Test at Headingley on Thursday after the tourists collapsed either side of his blistering century.
Steve Smith had the last laugh in his newly evoked rivalry on Day 4 of the third Test of the Ashes 2023 series at Headingley Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Australia and England's encounter at Headingley have never disappointed in the entertainment aspect and even this time it lived up to the expectations. On Day 2 of the highly engaging third Test, Jonny Bairstow took a slight dig at Australia's Steve Smith after his dismissal.
David Warner has not had a special Ashes so far. He scored 1 and 4 in the third Test at Leeds. His performance in the other two Tests has also not been special - going past 40 only once in four innings. For the 17th time, he fell victim to Broad's bowling when he was dismissed by the star England pacer in the second innings at Headingley. Former Australia wicketkeeper Ian Healy is not at all pleased with Warner, and questioned his spot in the XI.
United Kingdom, July 8, 2023 (AFP) -Chris Woakes led the way with the ball before England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett held firm to give England the upper hand in a must-win third Ashes Test for the hosts against Australia at Headingley on Saturday.
The ongoing third Ashes Test between England and Australia is getting more intense with every passing day. Opting to bowl first, England bundled out Australia for 263 on the first day but the visitors whole-heartedly retaliated and bowled out the hosts for 237 on Day 2. Later in the day, Australia lost four wickets with 116 runs on the board at stumps. Despite all this action, one thing which grabbed a lot of limelight was the tensed moment which occurred between Steve Smith and Jonny Bairstow on Friday.
England's former captain Nasser Hussain seemed disappointed with the missing chances by the English team on the field against Australia in the third test match of the Ashes series. On the first day of the third test, England continued to let down with their on-field performance. Jonny Bairstow dropped catches behind the stumps of Steve Smith and Travis Head while Joe Root filed to catch Mitchell Marsh at 12 runs. Marsh then scored 118 runs in the match. Hussain told Sky Sports Cricket that dropping catches is like a "virus", it spreads through the team.
LEEDS, England :Captain Ben Stokes continued to perform heroics as he single-handedly guided England to a more respectable 237 all out in their first innings on day two of the third Ashes test on Friday, before Australia moved on to 29-1 in reply at tea.
