Australia’s Cameron Smith stepped into the spotlight vacated by Tiger Woods to post a record halfway total in the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews.
The big names were put in the shade by Cameron Tringale who hit a course-record 61 to take a three-shot lead at the Scottish Open. Those who secured an early tee time at the Renaissance Club had the best of the conditions, with the wind picking up as the day wore on.
