Robbie Neilson expects John Souttar to be fit for the midweek derby – although the Hearts manager did not specify which derby.
Hearts manager Robbie Neilson expects to have John Souttar available for Tuesday’s Edinburgh derby after the Rangers target went off injured in a 2-0 win over Motherwell.
A 2-0 win over Motherwell at Tynecastle Park put third-place Hearts ten points ahead of the North Lanarkshire club in fourth. They are also 12 points above Hibs but Neilson stressed victory in Leith is a must regardless of league positions and points totals.
John Souttar may have played his last match for Hearts after being substituted at half-time against Motherwell at Tynecastle.
The January transfer window is just days away from being over and Rangers have completed three signings so far this month.
Tynecastle officials are anticipating another move for Souttar by counterparts in Glasgow before the winter window closes. A £300,000 bid was rejected last weekend with the centre-back having already agreed a pre-contract switch to Ibrox for summer.
Despite the arrival of Nathaniel Atkinson and, more recently, Toby Sibbick to bolster resources at the back, Hearts’ transfer business may not be complete.
Rangers target Danilho Doekhi is set to make a decision on his future.
