Michael Vaughan believes Justin Langer would be the perfect replacement for former England head coach Chris Silverwood.
Chris Silverwood has lost his job as England head coach, following director of men’s cricket Ashley Giles out of the door in the aftermath of the woeful Ashes campaign.
A video was shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on social media that compared some of the most prominent international stars in the game currently with their U19 days. The video featured the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Joe Root, Babar Azam, Steve Smith and Ben Stokes as they were put against their younger self in the U19 World Cup playing similar kind of shots. ICC shared the video on their official Instagram handle with a caption that read:
England head coach Chris Silverwood has stepped down following the team's meek surrender in the Ashes series against Australia, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Thursday. Silverwood had come under pressure after England lost the five-Test Ashes series 4-0, with former skipper Mike Atherton calling for a complete overhaul of the England management. The announcement comes a day after Ashley Giles, who appointed Silverwood, left his role as the managing director. "It's been an absolute honour to be England head coach, and I'm extremely proud to have worked alongside our players and staff," Silverwood said. "The last two years have been very demanding but I have really enjoyed my time with the team and working with Rooty (Test captain Joe Root) and Morgs (white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan), and I am very proud of this group considering the challenges."
England coach Chris Silverwood paid the price for the team's woeful Ashes series loss in Australia by leaving his post on Thursday, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced. Silverwood's departure came a day after Ashley Giles, who appointed him in 2019, was sacked from his role of England managing director men's cricket. England's 4-0 reverse in Australia means they have now won just one of their last 14 Tests, albeit Silverwood's tenure coincided with the coronavirus pandemic.
Mark Ramprakash was not surprised at all to see Chris Silverwood sacked as England coach even though he was saddened by his dismissal.
