INDIANAPOLIS : Coming into the Indianapolis 500, Marcus Ericsson was the fifth wheel on a powerhouse Chip Ganassi Racing all-star lineup of champions and drivers who had already been to Victory Lane at the Brickyard.

Tres pasos por la calle de boxes en tres vueltas, de primero a último. Y a correr ya a la contra con algo más de la mitad de la prueba por delante. Lo intentó hasta el final, pero no pudo ser, acabó noveno unas 500 Millas que se decidieron a al esprint tras una bandera roja a cuatro del final provocada por Jimmie Johnson cuando Ericsson, su compañero en Ganassi iba lanzado a la victoria con más de dos segundos sobre O'Ward. El sueco aguantó las embestidas del mexicano en la relanzada y se llevó la gloria.
