Tyson Fury has once again offered Anthony Joshua a fight, and has now claimed he has sent the former world champion a contract for a Wembley event this autumn. Fury has a longstanding habit of trailing a fight with Joshua but claim and counter-claim have seen the WBC champion fight Deontay Wilder three times, before a mandatory defence against Dillian Whyte and then an underwhelming third fight against Derek Chisora in December last year.
Britain's WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury said on Friday that a contract had been sent to compatriot Anthony Joshua for a Wembley Stadium showdown in September.
Anthony Joshua could fight Dillian Whyte ahead of a potential December bout with Deontay Wilder, says the Brit's promoter Eddie Hearn. Joshua's team are currently in negotiations with Wilder over a meeting — likely to be in Saudi Arabia — but they are also apparently keen to get in another fight for their charge during the summer, with Hearn citing Whyte as an opponent Joshua «can have some spite for». Ad The 33-year-old's last bout saw him overcome Jermaine Franklin on points in London back in April.
A friend asked me recently what I thought Anthony Joshua should do next. There have been reports that Joshua will fight again this summer and other reports that he has decided to wait until December. Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have been mentioned as possible opponents. But there may be a rematch against Dillian Whyte or a fight against a second-tier opponent.
Anthony Joshua has suggested that he may fight Deontay Wilder in December in Saudi Arabia, but appeared to rule out any impending encounter with Tyson Fury. Joshua, who defeated Jermaine Franklin on points at the O2 Arena earlier this month, is also set to take on a summer fight in London before facing Wilder, with that opponent yet to be decided. Ad The British heavyweight, 33, had lost his two previous bouts, both to Oleksandr Usyk.
Anthony Joshua has confirmed work is under way over a “big fight” with Deontay Wilder for December, but has not ruled out a summer bout beforehand.
