India vs Sri Lanka 2022 2nd T20I Ind vs SL T20I Live Score Updates: After a comfortable 62-run victory against Sri Lanka in the first T20I, India will be eager to clinch yet another T20I series under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. A win for India will also take their tally to 100 wins in T20 Internationals. However, India could find another opposition, in the form of the rain gods, who could spoil their party in what is expected to be a rain-interrupted game. For India, Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the ongoing series and was replaced by Mayank Agarwal. The visitors, on the other hand, will be aiming to open their account and break the 10-game winning streak of India in T20Is.(LIVE SCORECARD)
The 18-member Sri Lanka Test squad, led by star batter Dimuth Karunaratne and featuring veterans such as Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal, checked in in Dharamasala on Friday for the two-match series against India starting March 4 in Mohali. However, senior batter Kusal Mendis and spinner Maheesh Theekshana have been ruled out of the last two T20 Internationals with the latter going back home owing to a hamstring injury. Kusal is, however, going to stay back as he is part of the Test squad and will be added subject to fitness. Niroshan Dickwella, who recently came out of suspension for bio-bubble breach in England last year, has been drafted into the T20 squad along with Dananjaya de Silva, both of whom, are also a part of the Test squad.

Dasun Shanaka conceded the fact that his team were really poor in the T20I series opener against India. Electing to bowl first didn't go very well for Sri Lanka as the bowlers were taken for cleaners by India's batters, led by Ishan Kishan (89 off 56 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (57 not out off 28 balls). After being posed a challenging target of 200, Sri Lanka were never in the hunt as they lost Pathum Nissanka on the very first ball and lost half of their side by 12 overs. "We were really poor in all three departments. They batted beautifully, read the game and conditions really well. I could have bowled more," said Shanaka in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Ishan Kishan played a fine knock of 89 runs as India posted 199/2 in the opening T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, in Lucknow on Thursday. Kishan, however, was given a lifeline mid-way through his innings when he was dropped on 44 by Janith Liyanage off a Jeffrey Vandersay delivery. Kishan went on to make the best out of the lifeline as he scored 89 to help India to a big total. Kishan faced 56 balls during his knock while his teammate Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 57 off 28 balls to help the hosts dominate proceedings in Lucknow.
Talented opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the first T20I against Sri Lanka owing to a wrist injury sustained during practice session. Ruturaj played in the last T20I against West Indies where he got out cheaply. "Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was unavailable for selection for the first T20I. The BCCI Medical Team is examining him," BCCI stated in a media release. Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar are already out of the series with a fractured wrist and hamstring injury respectively.
After clean sweeping the West Indies in the three ODIs as well as the three-match T20I series, Team India's focus now shifts towards a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma's reign as India's full-time white-ball captain has started on a high note as the T20I series win over the Windies has seen them move to the top of the pile in the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings. With the T20 World Cup set to be held later this year in Australia, Team India will continue to look for the right composition ahead of the marquee event.
