There isn't a 1 vs. 2 matchup to headline this weekend, but it remains a weekend of intriguing rematches that will have a sizable impact on conference races and NCAA tournament seeding.
The dominance of the SEC this season has been well-documented. It has the highest KenPom rating as a conference in the history of the database, which dates to the 1996-97 season. With 13 teams in ESPN's latest Bracketology, the league is on pace to set a record for most NCAA tournament bids from a single conference, which was previously held by the Big East with 11 in 2011.
Entering the season, there was more anticipation around the level of talent in college basketball than we've seen in years. A handful of AP All-Americans returning to their programs instead of entering the draft, elite freshmen headlining the incoming class and an influx of pro-level international players made for a loaded Top 100 player ranking back in October.

From national title contenders (the Kansas Jayhawks, Alabama Crimson Tide and UConn Huskies) to potential Cinderellas (the McNeese Cowboys and Bradley Braves, among others) and sleepers, Jeff Borzello and Myron Medcalf ranked 99 teams into 12 tiers.
Dec. 14 was a date college basketball die-hards circled on their calendars before the season started. While some of the luster was taken away given several teams' poor starts to the campaign, it was still as loaded a nonconference Saturday as we've had in some time, with 18 ranked teams in action.
