BENGALURU : India's cricket board (BCCI) said on Tuesday its kit sponsorship deal with Adidas would run until March 2028 and that players would wear the new apparel for the first time when they face Australia in the World Test Championship final next month.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi on Friday made it clear that Pakistan will travel to India for the ODI World Cup only if the Rohit Sharma-led team is allowed to play the upcoming Asia Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy in his country. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently rejected the "hybrid model", which the former journalist feels is the only feasible solution until India and Pakistan start playing each other in their respective nations. Sethi also said that if India comes to Pakistan, their national team will have no issues playing in any Indian city, including Ahmedabad.
The confusion regarding the host venue of the 2023 Asia Cup still remains. While it was scheduled to be held in Pakistan, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), in October last year said that India won't travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. After that statement, the deliberations have been going on regarding the host venue of the continental event. A hybrid model has also been proposed, in which the plan is to shift India's Asia Cup matches outside Pakistan, but no final decision has been made regarding that too.
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) could witness another round of cash windfall during the next five-year cycle between 2023-2027 with estimated earnings of over USD 1.15 billion (INR 9 billion) from ICC's share of annual revenue. While this is still not official but an influential ICC member said that it is just a matter of time before BCCI is officially given 38.50 per cent of ICC's annual revenue of 600 million USD, which comes to USD 231 million for wold's richest cricket board.
The BCCI has named wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan as the replacement for KL Rahul, who suffered a right upper thigh injury during an Indian Premier League match recently, for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants skipper, had been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL and the WTC final after he picked up the injury while fielding during a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this month. The WTC final will take place between June from 7-11 at The Oval in London.
Contradicting media reports that Asia Cup could be postponed and a parallel tournament, excluding Pakistan, could be played in Dubai in the same window, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) sources on Monday said that they have not sent out any such proposal to the member nations. A report in Pakistan media claimed that if PCB will not agree to play Asia Cup at a neutral venue, the tournament could be taken away from the country.
Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has praised the Indian cricket board (BCCI) for announcing a substantial increase in the prize money for domestic competitions. As per the recent announcement, the winners of the Ranji Trophy, India's premier first-class cricket tournament, will receive prize money of Rs 5 crore (approx. USD 670,000). Kaneria took to Twitter to express his appreciation for the move and added that other cricket boards from across the world should learn from the BCCI.
