BCCI and the Maharashtra government have decided to allow 25% crowd capacity for the first phase of the IPL 2022 from March 26 to April 15. "A decision to increase the crowd capacity for the second phase will be taken later, depending on the Covid situation," a source told TOI. On Wednesday, Aaditya Thackeray, who is the minister for tourism and environment in the state government, and Maharashtra guardian minister Eknath Shinde held a meeting with BCCI's acting CEO Hemang Amin and key officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association regarding the arrangements for the tournament. The meeting was held at the Sahyadri Guest House in Malabar Hill.

Roy, who was roped in by the new Gujarat Titans (GT) franchise for his base price of Rs 2 crore, took to Twitter and penned a heartfelt note for the GT family, including skipper Hardik Pandya, for showing "faith" in him during the IPL auction last month. Roy said that the bio-bubble fatigue has taken a toll on him, adding that he'd like to spent some quality time with his family.
