NHL Rink Wrap: Crosby reaches 1,400 milestone to lead Penguins; Hat trick for Staal
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling lately and entered Sunday’s game against the Nashville Predators on a four-game losing streak. Sidney Crosby helped them snap the losing streak with a 3-2 overtime that saw him record three points, including a pair of goals. His second goal was the overtime winner and helped him reach the 1,400 point mark for his career. He has not really slowed down at all this season and is still one of the league’s best all-around players and most dominant offensive forces. He opened the scoring on Sunday early in the first period, assisted on Jason Zucker‘s game-tying goal midway through the third period, and then won the game in overtime on a redirection from a tough angle along the goal line.
NHL Rink Wrap: Barkov leads Panthers rally; Ritchie suspended
There is not a team in the league with a better offense this season the Florida Panthers, and when they are on their game there is not anybody even close to them. They also are never out of a game because of that offense. We saw all of that on Saturday afternoon as they erased a four-goal third period deficit to rally for a 7-6 overtime win against the New Jersey Devils. Aleksander Barkov scored the Panthers’ fifth and sixth goals in the final five minutes to send the game to overtime, continuing his sensational season. Jonathan Huberdeau gets all of the MVP talk here, but Barkov is the guy that really makes this team run. The Panthers are averaging well over four goals per game this season, the highest single season mark by any team since the 1995-96 season, and have now scored at least seven goals in a game seven times this season. They have scored at least six goals 14 different times and at least five goals 27 different times. Just an unbelievable offensive hockey team here.

He recorded a hat trick for the second consecutive game in Dallas’ 6-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. That gives the second-year standout 29 goals on the season while he also has eight goals over his past five games, including the two hat tricks over the past two games. The Stars are back on a roll and solidifying their spot as a Stanley Cup Playoff team and Robertson and his line have been the one constant for them all season.
