Rishabh Pant led India's fightback by smashing his fifth Test century on Day 1 of the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston. Pant scored a counter-attacking century off just 89 balls as India managed to recover from a top-order collapse. The 24-year-old hit 15 boundaries and a six en route the 100-run mark. James Anderson is the leading wicket-taker in Tests among pacers, but that does not stop the audacious Rishabh Pant from going after him at every possible opportunity. When England toured India in 2021, Pant had stunned Anderson by reverse-scooping him for a six after the new ball was taken. On Day 1 of the ongoing rescheduled 5th Test between the two teams, Pant attempted the shot again, reminding viewers of his versatility and talent. While the shot did not result in a boundary, it still showed how Pant is willing to take on any bowler, reputation notwithstanding.

India were in trouble on Day 1 of the ongoing 5th Test against England at Edgbaston, having lost Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli in quick succession after the start of the second session. Rishabh Pant, however, hit a counter-attacking half-century to rescue the team from 98/5, with the help of a good partnership with Ravindra Jadeja. During the knock, he took the attack to Jack Leach, who he loves to bat against, hitting him for two consecutive boundaries before coming down the track to hit him for a huge six down the ground.
