Ben Stokes Marks 100th Test With India Series On A Knife-Edge

Ben Stokes will earn his 100th Test cap when he leads England against India in the third Test beginning Thursday in Rajkot, with both sides having to contend with the absence of key players. The five-match series is on a knife-edge at 1-1 after India's 106-run victory in the second Test in Visakhapatnam followed England's 28-run win in Hyderabad. Batsmen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will be absent for India while England's senior spinner Jack Leach has been ruled out of the final three matches with a knee injury suffered in the first Test.

The England cricket team suffered a big blow on Sunday as spinner Jack Leach was ruled out of the remaining three Tests against India. Leach missed the second match due to an injury after playing key role in England's triumph over India in the series opener. In the second Test, he was replaced by debutant Shoaib Bashir, who couldn't do much with the ball as the tourists lost the match by 106 runs. With Leach ruled out, England would have to rely on the trio of Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir for spin bowling duty in the remaining three Tests against India.

Jasprit Bumrah breathed fire against England on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test by returning figures of 6 for 45 in 15.5 overs. He got Joe Root caught at slip for five with his reverse swing and then brought the house down when he bowled first-Test hero Ollie Pope for 23 with a trademark yorker. Bumrah then removed Jonny Bairstow to claim his third wicket. Stokes attempted to stop the rot in his attacking stay at the wicket but he too failed to find a solution against Bumrah. The right-arm pacer bowled Stokes for his 150th Test wicket with a delivery that seamed back in to the left-hand batsman and stayed low to rattle the stumps.
